The old bathroom.
This was quite a luxurious bathroom in its day. But Maggie thought it was dull and dated. Also it came with the house and was not her ideal choice. So it had to go.

Victorian look
The old Victorian look was classic and had been done very well with quite a large bath. But we did agree that it was dark and dingy. It was a large room though which gave it a lot of scope.
Maggie wanted to make use of the large space by taking out the bidet and vanity, moving the bath up and making a wet area.

Entrance.
You can get an idea of the size of the room here. It has a tripple airing cupboard which dominated the room. |

Demolition.
First we took out the bath basin, and bidet. Then cut a third off the cupboard.

Stripped.
In fact we complettely stripped the room apart from the WC, which we always leave untill last for obvious reasons.

|
|
Floor as well.
The old flooboards on half the room were removed. The shower area was covered with a tile backer board, Aquapanel which is waterproof. the surrounding area was sheeted with 12 mm ply in two layers to give it streangth and hight to slope into the drain area.

Tiling.
The tiles were huge and flat with square edges. We tiled the bath panel as well.

Vanity
The radiator was replaced with a very modern upright one and moved to the right to make room for a very smart vanity unit which ocupied the space where part of the cupboard was.

Black and white.
The floor was tiled with black and white tiles Because three quarters of the room was tiled in white and the airing cupboard was painted white, Maggie thought a splash of warm colour was neede. So the vanity and radiator wall was wallpapered in deep red.

Fixed shower head.
A modern square shower riser with a fixed head was installed. This has a seperate 'microphone' hand piece.

New blind.
A blind can always add some colour if you are going for all white tiles. Here you can see the old doors painted white. They are a big improvement on the old.
